Health Occupations (High School Seniors Only)

- Meets 3 Hours Daily Only seniors are eligible to enroll.
Recommended Prerequisites and Skills:

Grade of “C” or higher in all science classes completed before enrollment
- Strong listening and comprehension skills
Health Occupations Class is designed to introduce the students to a wide range of career opportunities, assist in narrowing the career choices regarding the student’s own aptitudes and interests, and to provide the student with education and experience appropriate to their interests in the health field. Some of these fields may include: the laboratory, physical therapy, cardiopulmonary therapy, dental medicine, pharmacy, social services, nursing, radiology, ward secretary, medical records, medical receptionist, activities director, occupational therapy, dietetics, operating room technician, central supply worker, environmental service and laundry.
In the second semester of the program, students will complete a clinical rotation in a health care facility. Students have the opportunity to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (C.N.A.) if they successfully complete the course and pass the examination given by a State Examiner.
Additional education is necessary for many jobs in health care. However, the experience for many entry level jobs is received in this class.
